What the 2021 Census tells us

There were 1,032,779 Hindus living in the UK per the 2021 Census, with the majority, 453,034 or 44%, living in the Greater London area, where 5.1% of the population are Hindu. The largest Hindu population outside London was Leicester, at 65,821 or 6%. Hindus accounted for 2% of the population in 2021, and were the third largest religious group after Christianity and Islam.

Hindus have the highest percentage of individuals in the UK working in “professional occupations“, at 34.3%.

Hindus are the most qualified religious group in the UK, with 54.8% being educated to Level 4 or higher.
