A few of us volunteers at British Hindus were able to attend an event in the Houses of Parliament this week (25th January 2023), commemorating 33 years since the most recent genocide of Hindus in Kashmir, and the exodus of over 350,000 Hindus that followed. This genocide is the most recent of many that Kashmiri Hindus have endured over the course of more than a thousand years.
We heard firsthand accounts from refugees who survived, hearing the tragic details of their memories and the sadness of having their native homeland stolen from them and loosing everything but a small number of belongings. Their recollection of gunfire, gruesome murders, rapes and the slogan “Raliv, Galiv ya Chaliv”, (Convert, Die or Leave), printed in newspapers and blared from Mosque loudspeakers.
To learn more, we welcome you to watch this documentary, which exposes the horrors faced by Kashmiri Hindus. Sadly, there is widespread misunderstanding of the events that took place and denial of the genocide, something we are actively working to change.
We would like to express our gratitude to all involved in the organisation of this event, to the Honourable Bob Blackman MP for his continued support and hosting the event, and to all who attended to show their support.
Want to help? Please write to your MP and urge them to sign this early day motion to commemorate the 33rd year since the genocide.
