Indian Police target Bangladeshi Hindu Huamn Rights platform

August 2026:  @voiceof_bangladeshi_hindus is one of the most popular social media platforms that shares reports of persecution of Hindus in Bangladeshi. The platform also alerts to Indian citizens and authorities of potential security threats from Bangladesh Islamis extremists targeting India. With over 17,400 followers on X, Islamists have made repeated attempts to shut down the platform which resulted in a suspension in 2025.

On 29th August 2026, the Police Anti-Terrorism Squad from the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh issued a notice to the platform for investigating upon an accusation of ‘anti-national activity’, a rather bizarre accusation for an account not based in India. On the same day the platform also received a similar interrogation from the Mumbai Police Anti-Terrorism Squad in connection to a post where Voice of Bangladeshi Hindus was warning Indians about Bangladeshi Islamist Enayetullah Abbasi.

This story comes at a time the Indian government is facing increasing criticism from the global Hindus community in its failures to adaquately support persecuted Pakistani and Bangladeshi Hindus as well as threatening the freedom of speech of Hindu activists.
