London Carnatic Concert features homegrown talent

London has much to offer enthusiasts of Indian classical music with some of the world’s most renowned Indian classical musicians regularly filling auditoriums across the city. On the evening of Sunday 27th September 2026 @pranava_uk hosted a very unique Carnatic concert at the Sands End Arts and Community Centre in West London. During the show; Brothers in Concert – Carnatic Ensemble, six artists delivered an electrifying instrumental set. In addition to being 3 pairs of brothers, what makes this group of young musicians standout is they are all UK-grown talent. On the violin, brothers Kartigan and Ramanan have been trained in both Carnatic and Western classical traditions. They performed at festivals across the globe and are known for their covers for recordings with independent artists. On the mridangam were Ram and Keeran. Both brothers have accompanied celebrity artists such as P Unnikrishnan and since 2016 Ram has contributed to Chennai’s December Carnatic concert season. On the flute were brothers  Harrisan and  Anushan; @2flutes. Adept at blending Carnatic sounds with Western contemporary genres, the duo have performed at events by brands such as L’Oréal and Dishoom and collaborated with Grammy-winning producer, Skrillex.

Event host Pranava UK, is a cultural organisation dedicated to the promotion of Carnatic music, one of major genres of Indian classical music*.  With roots in the Sama Veda, Carnatic music is native to Southern India. In addition to hosting concerts and workshops, Pranava seeks to make a lasting impact on the future of Carnatic Music by championing the growth of professionally trained artists from here in the UK.  September’s event was therefore Pranava’s first fundraiser to support British Carnatic artists such as the Brothers in Concert.
