Peterborough Mandir: Call for Community presence at next week’s court hearing in London

For more than 40 years, Bharat Hindu Samaj has faithfully served the Hindu community from its temple site, providing a place of worship, cultural activities, education, and community engagement for generations of families. As many members of our community are aware, Bharat Hindu Samaj has been engaged in a long and determined battle with Peterborough City Council to secure ownership of the temple site that has been its home for four decades. Following 14 years of discussions and negotiations, the Council took the decision to award the site to another bidder, a decision that Bharat Hindu Samaj believes is unjust and contrary to the interests of the community it has served for so many years.

In pursuit of fairness and justice, Bharat Hindu Samaj has continued its legal challenge. We would like to inform all members and supporters that the court hearing will take place at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on:

10 June 2026 – 9:00 am
11 June 2026 – 9:00 am

Venue: Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London, WC2A 2LL

This hearing represents a significant moment in the ongoing effort to protect the future of our temple and preserve a vital centre of faith, culture, and community for present and future generations. We respectfully request all members of the community to keep Bharat Hindu Samaj in their prayers during these important proceedings. If you are able to do so, we would also greatly appreciate your presence and support at the court hearing. A strong show of community solidarity will demonstrate the importance of the temple and the value it holds for so many families. Your continued support, encouragement, and prayers are deeply appreciated and give strength to everyone involved in this important cause.

Please circulate and encourage those who can go to the court. Physical display of support has effective optics and a strong message of Hindu unity.
