5th June 2025: This morning, the Prana Pratishta rituals took place at the Shri Ram Mandir at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi (birthplace of Rama) in Ayodhya, India. Following the opening of the main shrine on the ground of the temple on 22nd January 2022, construction of the remaining shrines in the temple complex continued. This included the building of eight additional shrines and the Shikhar (the spire above the main shrine) – work for which was completed in previous weeks. Today the deities of Shri Rama Parivar – that is Rama with Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughna and Hanuman were installed in the central shrine on the first floor of the temple – directly above the shrine of Ramlalla.
In all four corners of the temple complex, Shiva, Durga, Surya and Ganapati have been installed. Together with Vishnu (as Rama) installed in the central shrine, the five principal deities of Hindu Dharma are now present. Additional shrines of Hanuman, Annapurna (devi of food and nourishment) and Sheshnarayan (Vishnu’s attendant) have been consecrated on the temple site. Today’s rituals mark a momentous and joyous milestone in the history of Hindus deconlising and reclaiming their sacred sites.
