On Thursday 2nd February 2023, City Hindus Network and City Sikhs Network held an event in the Houses of Parliament, featuring a panel of inspirational female entrepreneurs from the Finance and Tech industry, and a professor of entrepreneurship.
The event was chaired by Lord Kamall, who facilitated a thought provoking and inspiring discussion between the panellists. Some salient points from the event were:
- The importance of giving female founders access to capital, and the inherent bias against women, who are more likely to be first time founders
- Continually being able to bounce back from failure and taking risk to ultimately find your passion should be encouraged among aspiring female entrepreneurs and from a young age especially for females from an ethnic minority background.
- A lack of female role models in positions that can inspire young women to achieve, and our collective role in showing young women their potential can not be limited
- Raising awareness of female health challenges, which are debilitating and suffer from a lack of awareness, such as endometriosis and menopause, which can lead to women leaving the workforce
We would like to thank the Right Honourable Andrew Brigden MP for hosting and allowing this event to take place, to Lord Kamall for chairing and City Hindus Network and City Sikhs Network for organising this event. The event was a sell-out and a great success and we expect it will have a meaningful impact to all who attended.
